Love Notes Jar lets two people share little notes in a private shared jar. To keep that jar in sync between your two devices, the app uses secure Google Firebase services. We do not show ads, we do not track you, and we never sell your data. This policy explains what we store, why, and the choices you have.
• Account: when you sign in with email and password or with Google, we store your email address to create your account and to pair you with your partner. • The notes you create: your note text, chosen paper color, stickers, any links you add, and any voice recording or photo you attach, plus the names you enter, your jar theme and settings, reactions, streaks and keepsakes. Content in a shared jar is synced so your partner can see it. • A messaging token: an anonymous Firebase Cloud Messaging token for your device, so we can notify your partner when you leave a new note. • Purchases: when you buy a sticker pack or subscribe to Supporter, Google Play processes the payment. We store only a flag indicating the purchase is active — we never see your card details. We do not collect analytics, advertising identifiers, your location, your contacts, or browsing activity.
Your notes and jar are stored on your device and, so the two of you stay in sync, in Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore). Access to a shared jar is restricted by security rules to the two paired members of that jar — no one else can read it. When you attach a voice note or photo, that file is briefly uploaded to Google Firebase (Cloud Storage) so it can be delivered to your partner's device; once their device downloads it, the copy on Google's servers is deleted and the file then lives only on your two devices. Access to these files is likewise limited to the two paired members. Photos are automatically resized before sending.
We rely on Google Firebase — Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage, Cloud Messaging and Cloud Functions (provided by Google LLC) — to run accounts, sync and notifications, and on Google Play Billing to process purchases. Data handled by these services is governed by Google's Privacy Policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy. We share your information with these providers only as needed to operate the app, and with no one else.
• Internet: to sync your shared jar and deliver notifications. • Notifications: for your optional daily reminder and alerts when your partner leaves a note. • Microphone: used only while you record a voice note. The recording is saved on your device and, if you send it, briefly relayed through Google Firebase to your partner (then deleted from the server). • Vibration: used only for haptic feedback (the gentle taps you feel). • Motion sensor (accelerometer): used only for the “shake to open” gesture. Readings are processed momentarily on your device and are never stored or transmitted.
The app contains no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party tracking or profiling of any kind.
Local data stays on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app; uninstalling removes the app's local data. To delete data that has been synced to the cloud, unpair your jar in Settings or email us and we will delete your account and its jar data. If you have Android backup enabled, your device may include the app's local data in your personal Google backup, which is controlled by you and your Google account.
Love Notes Jar is intended for couples and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Data in transit is encrypted, and access to your shared jar is limited to its two paired members by server-side security rules. You may also enable an optional app lock that uses your device's own biometrics or PIN; that check happens entirely on your device and no biometric data ever leaves it.
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected here with a new effective date.
